Those who desire to travel to Virginia Beach and find themselves nestled amongst the million dollar homes in Croatan need to remember that this is a LOCALS beach. We rented a very pricy house on the beach at Croatan and loved the house, but swimming was next to impossible without being run down by kids with surfboards. The lifeguards did nothing to enforce the "no surfboarding" signs despite our requests. Perhaps the homeowners could prevail upon the elected officials to get better enforcement. Croatan beach is just south of the main oceanfront/boardwalk area. The is tucked away inside one of the most premeir neighborhoods along the cost with million dollars houses that will leave you in awe! It's less crowded, cleanier, and free parking!
