1. Big Sam's Inlet Café and Raw Bar
Great place that just got better by going smoke-free.
This is for the ENTIRE family - dog too! (on a leash). DO NOT LEAVE VA BEACH without walking the length of the Boardwalk! This is a great family day - kids can bike or skate or even swim while parents walk.
Surprisingly friendly and casual. This was one of the first places in the entire Hampton Roads area to go Smoke-Free!
This is my favorite place to walk/jog in the Virginia Beach area. Of course that it helps that I live within walking distance! It is a beautiful place and pets on leashes are welcome! Don't forget that Fort Story is right across the street from one of the entrances so be sure to catch the Cape Henry Lighthouses too!

The CAPE HENRY TRAIL cuts through this park - be sure to walk the Trail and meet the local population - we all use this trail and love to talk to visitors! It is very safe - I walk my dog at 5:00 am and at midnight!
Bring in the NEW - but KEEP the OLD!!! Take an inside tour of the original Cape Henry Lighthouse on the site where the first English Colonists landed. You can view the outside of the NEW lighthouse which is still functional so no inside tours are allowed. Then walk across the street to the site where the French held off the English supply ships allowing the colonists to win the Battle of Jamestown! This is located on a military installation (Fort Story) - please read my reviews to see how to make your military gate entrance a non-issue!
6. Hell's Kitchen on the Bay
Sounds almost like a oxymoron - A Smoke-Free Hell's Kitchen! But this HK and the HK in downtown Norfolk are both clean air restaurants - A great place to take everyone for lunch. Live music livens up this establishment for the night-time!
Great place for the day - stroll the outdoor paths, see the exhibits and watch an IMAX movie - all smoke-free!
8. Rudee's On The Inlet
One of my favorite outside establishments (smoking is still permitted outside). Great views - great air!!!
By far the best beach in Virginia Beach. Pack a lunch and enjoy the sand and surf!
One of the "Do Not Miss" restaurants in VA Beach! Now serving w/o smoke!
This is right next to Sandbridge Beach but it is a State Park so there are parking lots and other events taking place here!
On-the-boardwalk and now smoke-free!
